Empowering Young Black Men Through Social, Emotional, & Mental Health is a presentation for parents, mentors, youth leaders, educators, and administrators who are looking for practical methods to engage Black male youth. Black male youth are often overlooked and underserved in developing their social identity and emotional wellness. This presentation features research-proven curricula and activities to lower behavior incidents, positively impact emotional wellness, and improve academic persistence in attendance and performance. The presentation is an informative, encouraging, and motivational tool for audiences. The session is important for those who work with black male youth in school, church, sports, or community organizations.

BRICK’s Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) approach, created in collaboration with culturally responsive educators, supports Black male students by affirming their identities and celebrating their heritage. This professional development session will explore how BRICK’s curriculum fosters self-love, resilience, and well-being, empowering students to build a legacy rooted in truth and pride. Educators will learn strategies to help Black male students embrace their roles as future leaders, elders, and ancestors.

Today's session addresses the need to identify emotional pain and how it affects decision-making. Everyone has emotional pain, and it is essential to understand how to address it to help others. At some point, emotional pain that is ignored or unaddressed will negatively impact everything we strive to achieve. Understanding the importance of this, we must drop the anchor, stabilize the ship, address the problem, and set sail to a better life of positivity!

The session will be focused on helping black males identify, recognize, and cultivate the power that is already inside of them through 7 Core values that I've learned, mastered, and taught youth and adults to empower themselves and others to overcome any obstacles they may face. The 7 Core Values cover Identity, Process, Opportunity, Growth Mentality, Why-Drivenness, Reciprocity, and Belief.

Embark on a transformative journey with "Decolonized Healing," where we confront the 'spirit murdering' educational environments that too often serve as precursors to incarceration rather than incubators of freedom. In this session, we will arm educators and mentors with culturally responsive strategies that dismantle these oppressive structures and champion the mental mastery of Black boys and men. Participants will acquire tools to nurture resilience, emotional intelligence, and self-efficacy, transforming schools into realms of empowerment and liberation. We'll integrate ancestral wisdom with evidence-based practices to create havens of healing, where Black boys and men can thrive academically and emotionally. Let's unite to re-envision educational spaces as foundations of freedom, where Black youth are equipped with the art of mental mastery for a life of boundless opportunity.
